We LOVE Thanksgiving dinner. When Dan and I first got married our first Thanksgiving was in Ankeny, Iowa. Actually, we made our dinner a few days before the actual day and on Thanksgiving we went to Chicago to see the sights. However, it was that first year that Dan told me that Thanksgiving was his favorite meal of the year. It is my favorite holiday.
It is simple.
Food only.
No gifts.
Not many decorations.
No candy.
It is great!
Before we moved to this state, we cooked our own Thanksgiving. It was fun. For the past 6 years we have gone to Dan's parents for Thanksgiving which has been wonderful. So for the past 6 years we have cooked our own mini turkey dinner on a Sunday before Thanksgiving.
Everyone helps.
This year my Dad and Mary Lou were in town. Since I have only seen my Dad making tuna fish sandwiches or canned beef stew I wanted to document the event.
Grandpa Dave-Green bean casserole
Mariah- Rolls
Grandma Mary Lou- Sweet Potato Casserole
You can't have too many pictures of history in the making...
Blake- Mashed Potatoes
Not pictured (my camera ran out of charge)- Karina & Dan- turkey, stuffing & Andrew-gravy
Also not pictured- Us eating the meal with Grandpa & Grandma McDonald
A picture of all the kids (minus Drew as he had left for school) with
Grandma Mary Lou & Grandpa Dave
